Fast Food

Amir's Falafel Broadway, between 113th and 114th Sts.
(212) 749-7500
A long-standing favorite for a quick Middle Eastern falafel and the like. Inexpensive and good.
Columbia Bagels Broadway and 110th St.
(212) 222-3200
Go directly to Columbia Bagels, do not pass GO, do not collect $200. No seating.
Famiglia Pizzeria Broadway and 111th St.
(212) 865-1234
Serves delicious pizza. If you like spotting famous people go and see who has eaten there in the past.
The Hungarian Pastry Shop Amsterdam and 111th St. (just across from the Cathedral)
(212) 866-4230.
A favorite spot for the famous, the studious and the neighborhood die-hard. Serves croissants, cheese brioche, pastries and desserts, plus a large selection of coffees and teas, both hot and cold.
Koronet Pizza Broadway between 110 and 111th Sts.
(212) 222-1566
Serves a slice so big that if you strapped one on each arm you would have, well... they're BIG. Very good pizza, nevertheless.
Strokos Amsterdam between 113th and 114th Sts.
(212) 666-2121
Nice deli and seating area
The Wrap Factory Broadway at 111th St.
(212) 665-5870
Serves burritos and wraps, and has 'gourmet' wraps, but if you are into that, don't try the shepherds pie.

Restaurants

Bengal Cafe Amsterdam between 110th and 111th Sts.
(212) 662-7191.
Standard Indian food, they serve Indian Sunday brunch.
Caffe Taci Broadway and 110th St.
(212) 678-5345.
An Italian restaurant famous for its Opera Night, wherein opera singers belt out their favorites over dinner. Note: Some find the overpowering voices inspirational; others, just plain overpowering--caveat emptor! CASH ONLY, NO CHECKS.
Caffe Pertutti Broadway and 113th St.
(212) 864-1143
Well-done Italian fare, with good bread to go along. Large selection of desserts, for after-dinner or to go. Try the Eggplant Sorrentina... CASH ONLY.
Camille's Amsterdam and 116th St. (SE)
(212) 749-2428
Lots of pasta, with an Italian twist. Burgers are worth trying, too.
Columbia Cottage Amsterdam and 111th St.
(212) 662-1800
A Chinese restaurant, also with Shanghai menus. Another well-regarded eatery. See if they still serve free wine.
Deluxe Broadway and 113th St.
(212) 662-7900
Another of the new crop of restaurants on the Strip, this faux-diner's service has improved dramatically in the past 6 months.
Dynasty Broadway and 110th St.
(212) 665-6455
Another busy Chinese restaurant, perhaps a notch above Ollies in taste and decor. Has lunch specials, plus the steamed sole is very good.
Le Monde Broadway between 112th and 113th Sts.
(212) 531-3939
This bistro has a great wine list; the outdoor area is a great place to see and be seen. Oh yeah, the food is great, too.
Nacho Mamas Broadway between 112th and 113th Sts.
(212) 665-2800
Mexican food. The wings are worth revisiting. The Margaritas are the real draw, and rightly so. Occasional DJ parties on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Ollies Broadway and 116th St.
(212) 932-3300
Poised at the main gate, this Chinese spot is always busy. Solid, if unremarkable, Chinese fare. Eclectic assortment of non-Chinese favorites.
Symposium 113th St. between Broadway and Amsterdam
(212) 865-1011
This incredibly long-standing restaurant serves Greek fare. Mixed reviews for the food overall, but the good items are REALLY good.
The Heights Broadway between 111th and 112th Sts., above Samad's Deli
(212) 866-7035
Great addition to the strip. Inside and rooftop dining area, and a nice bar. Excellent brunch menu, to boot.
Mills Korean Restaurant Broadway between 112th and 113th Sts.
(212) 666-7653
The only Korean fare on the strip, quite good, especially the inexpensive lunch menu.
The West End Broadway between 113th and 114th Sts.
(212) 662-8830
Another bar posing as a restaurant. An old Columbia stand-by, once frequented by the famous Beat Crowd gang in the 1940s. Favorite of undergrads, especially Greeks.
Tomo Sushi & Sake Bar Broadway and 111th St. (SE)
(212) 665-2916
Newish (and only) sushi place on the strip. Reviews range from quite high praise to barely disguised scorn. Try it once and judge for yourself.
Tom's Restaurant Broadway and 112th St.
(212) 864-6137
The quintessential American diner. Featured in Seinfeld and in a rather good song by Suzanne Vega. Unpretentious food, fast service, no better recommendation.
V&T Restaurant Amsterdam between 110th and 111th Sts.
(212) 663-1708
Family style Italian restaurant; their pizza gets rave reviews!
