Early Music New York

“A Brearley Comedy of Eras” takes a humorous look at school life past and present. Our troupe of players — Early Music New York, under the direction of Frederick Renz — will include singers, instrumentalists, dancers and an actor and mime who specialize in the performing arts and instruments of the Renaissance. Inspired by collected lore about Brearley through the ages, they (and some very special guests) will conjure an entertainment especially for us. Visit Meet the Artists to find out more.

Now celebrating its 30th season in residence at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, Early Music New York (formerly New York's Ensemble for Early Music) thrills audiences worldwide with performances of music and music-drama from the medieval, Renaissance, and baroque periods. Profiled on the award-winning news programs ABC News Nightline and CBS News Sunday Morning, EMNY presents an annual New York season before sold-out audiences at the Cathedral and regularly tours throughout the United States and abroad. EMNY has won critical acclaim at many of the world's most prestigious festivals including Tokyo, Athens, Regensburg, Spoleto, Brisbane, Jerusalem, Hong Kong, Edinburgh, Cracow, Rome, and Charleston. The group has recorded for Ex cathedra Records, Lyrichord, Foné, Musical Heritage Society, Musicmasters, and Nonesuch, and has produced four recordings in collaboration with the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
