Dear Members of the Brearley Community,

We invite you to lend your support as underwriters of the 2007 Brearley Benefit, The Lighter Side of Brearley, a family evening of improvisation and conversation at Cipriani Wall Street to be held on Sunday, May 20, 2007.

The 2005 and 2006 Benefits permitted the School to offer extraordinary raises to our faculty, a first step in addressing the critical priorities of rewarding excellent teaching and maintaining the School’s position in an increasingly competitive teacher hiring market. Underwriting gifts helped the School finish the task of returning Brearley to a position among the leaders in independent school teacher compensation without unsustainable tuition increases. Thank you for helping Brearley to recognize the contributions that our teachers make to Brearley and to their students.

This year’s proceeds will create an endowed fund to support the professional development of our faculty.

We recognize our Benefit underwriters by fulfilling their request for the number of Benefit tickets needed for their family as well as by listing them in the program. There are five underwriter levels: $15,000, $10,000, $7,500, $5,000 and $2,500. We hope you will be inspired by our purpose to stretch to the highest possible level.

Underwriting contributions secure the financial success of the Benefit. We have worked hard to hold down the cost of the Benefit and are confident that ticket sales will cover expenses, including providing complimentary tickets for faculty and staff and our financial assistance families. The money we realize from underwriting will be fully committed to the Benefit purpose: endowing the support of faculty professional development at Brearley.

Given the importance of our cause, we are eager to exceed past Benefit totals. We are committed to doing the best we can for our teachers, in order to attract and retain excellent educators.
